Workshops on "Teaching and Learning," Parts 1, 2, and 3
Teaching and Learning 1: 18 credit hours
Teaching and Learning 2: 8 credit hours
Teaching and Learning 3: 4 credit hours
The "L²" workshops focus on the fundamentals of teaching methodology in higher education and enable participants to apply these principles to their own course planning.
A thoughtful selection of course content and structuring of the course over the entire semester is important and beneficial in light of the students’ learning process and given the volume of material.
Participants explore aspects and conditions of action- and participation-oriented teaching and discuss/reflect on its implementation in their own teaching practice. The formulation of appropriate teaching and learning objectives plays just as important a role as the fundamentals of learning psychology. Suggestions and implementation ideas are provided for the design of exercises, practicals, and lectures in particular.
Participants are encouraged to reflect on their own teaching and learning experiences. Reflection on one’s own role as a university instructor and its impact serves as the starting point for analyzing and evaluating past actions in teaching situations. Through experience-oriented methods and collegial exchange, new teaching strategies are developed and tested.
Objectives:
Participants
- will be familiar with the fundamentals of teaching and learning and will be able to integrate them into their own teaching,
- can formulate and apply teaching and learning objectives,
- have analyzed and reflected on their own teaching practices.
