Souver@n - Confident Digital Teaching and Learning
The SOUVER@N collaborative project brings together eight universities in Lower Saxony to sustainably strengthen digitalization in higher education. With €5 million in funding from the Foundation for Innovation in Higher Education, the project is based on three pillars:
1. Digital literacy for faculty and students
- Promoting digital literacy to ensure the competent and learning-goal-oriented use of digital tools.
- Practical support in the development of high-quality, digitally enriched teaching and learning concepts.
2. Professional IT infrastructure
- Ensuring a reliable IT foundation at universities.
- A balanced mix of proprietary and open-source solutions to ensure flexibility and autonomy.
3. Future-proof teaching through Open Educational Resources (OER)
- Development and use of open educational resources that enhance quality and accessibility.
For instructors:
- Practical professional development: Access to training and resources to expand digital skills and implement innovative teaching methods.
- Support through services: Professional assistance with the technical and pedagogical implementation of digital teaching.
- Collaboration platform: Exchange with colleagues within the network to jointly develop solutions to challenges.
For the university:
- Strategic strengthening: Long-term assurance of self-determined digital teaching through robust IT infrastructure and open-source strategies.
- Innovation through collaboration: Leveraging synergies within the network to use resources efficiently and set standards.
- Quality assurance: Development of high-quality, sustainable educational content (OER) that extends beyond one’s own institution.
SOUVER@N combines technical, pedagogical, and legal expertise to enable confident, future-proof teaching—for greater flexibility, quality, and equity in the digital higher education landscape.
