SKILL
SKILL – Focus Areas for the Continuous Improvement of Teaching and Learning (2011–2016)
The SKILL project at Clausthal University of Technology promotes the integration of methodology with the use of new media for innovative knowledge transfer and addresses the above-average workload in one of the university’s fastest-growing departments.
Viewed individually, the measures represent a qualitative improvement in teaching and learning conditions, but they are also structured to generate synergy effects. A central component is the implementation of a university teaching methodology program. This is supported, on the one hand, by the introduction of e-assessments and, on the other hand, by the intensified use of e-learning. The project culminates in the establishment of academic advising centers in the field of economics.
- The introduction of a program in the field of higher education pedagogy aims to enable faculty at Clausthal University of Technology to engage in targeted and professional professional development in the delivery of course content.
- Regarding assessments, the sub-areas "Assessment for Academic Orientation" and "Assessments Accompanying Studies" are to be enhanced with online self-assessments and e-assessment components.
- The widespread use of e-learning components is intended to improve teaching in the long term, make the program more flexible, and facilitate the understanding of difficult concepts. In addition to recording classes, subject-specific video productions as well as short films and animations designed to enhance understanding will be created for this purpose. Furthermore, the organizational capabilities of faculty members will be expanded through the enhancement of learning platforms.
- To continue ensuring an above-average level of student support in the field of economics—one of the youngest yet fastest-growing areas—staff members are available to assist with student projects.
