Certificate Programs
The term "certificate program" refers to a structured program consisting of workshops and other formats for discussion and consultation on topics related to higher education pedagogy. As part of these professional development programs, participants develop a theoretical and practical foundation in the field of teaching and learning at universities. The program focuses on developing individual teaching competencies and the personal role as a university instructor, as well as applying fundamental approaches and modern methods of higher education pedagogy in one’s own teaching.
The Certificate in Higher Education Pedagogy provides the foundational training in higher education pedagogy for research assistants. The structured program begins each April and takes place over a period of approximately one to one and a half years within a fixed group. Graduates of the Certificate in Higher Education Pedagogy or comparable certificates from other institutions can delve deeper into specific topics within a more individualized framework through the Certificate in Higher Education Pedagogy PLUS. The Certificate in Higher Education Pedagogy PLUS is also a State Certificate in Higher Education Pedagogy for Lower Saxony.
Our certificates are offered in cooperation with the Department of Higher Education Pedagogy at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen. The Certificates in Higher Education Didactics and Higher Education Didactics PLUS have been accredited as meeting professional standards in accordance with the decision of the Accreditation Commission (akko) of the German Society for Higher Education Didactics (dghd) dated April 17, 2025. Our programs for instructors are based on the dghd’s quality standards for the recognition of achievements in higher education didactics continuing education and are therefore recognized throughout Germany.
Registration for all three programs is available here. Further information on each program can be found on the respective pages.
