About Us

The Center for Higher Education Pedagogy (ZHD) at Clausthal University of Technology was founded in 2011.

The ZHD’s goal is to create a teaching and learning culture that enables students to succeed in their studies and values teaching as a central component of the university. Together with faculty members from all ranks, the ZHD works through higher education pedagogy workshops, certificate programs, coaching sessions, consultations, and other formats to place student learning at the center in accordance with the standards of “Good Teaching.” For us, learning is a constructive, social, self-directed, emotional, situational, and active process.  

The ZHD takes a step-by-step approach with interested faculty members to develop new ideas for teaching and learning at Clausthal University of Technology. It also offers support in applying for (teaching) awards, in disseminating both proven and new teaching methods in the spirit of the scholarship of teaching and learning, and in other matters related to everyday (teaching) life.  

We invite all faculty and students to collaborate with us to create a vibrant teaching and learning culture at Clausthal University of Technology that values individual differences.
