External funding of all kinds is not only an important source of financing for research, but also for the development of university teaching at Clausthal University of Technology.
Job postings reach the TUC in two ways:
- Faculty members actively seek them out.
- They are submitted to the TUC by foundations, companies, ministries, etc.
Anyone who becomes aware of relevant job postings in the field of higher education is asked to forward this information (links, newsletters, emails, PDFs, etc.) to the ZHD via the email address Ausschreibungen.@.LuSttu-clausthalde.
The ZHD maintains a section on its homepage (accessible only via the university network; you are currently on this page) that provides information on, among other things,
- current job postings,
- programs from foundations, ministries, etc.,
- internal university processes, and
- examples of best practices from TUC and other universities
.
For competitively awarded third-party funding, there is generally a submission deadline. Therefore, it is important that calls for proposals or information about these competitions be brought to the attention of the ZHD very quickly; the ZHD reviews the information and makes it generally available via appropriate mailing lists for the respective target group or contacts suitable faculty members directly.
If the call for proposals is relevant to TUC, the ZHD summarizes the information—based on emails from TUC’s funding advisory service—in a way that allows faculty members to quickly determine whether they are suitable for the program in question. The informational email generally includes the following points:
- Funding Title
- Eligible Applicants
- Duration, maximum funding amount, and total funding volume
- Application procedure
First, the rules of the respective call for proposals, etc., must be followed. Second, applicants must comply with the requirements of the Third-Party Funding Guidelines throughout the entire application process. The Research Services Office must be involved in the review and approval of applications on behalf of the Executive Board. Key partners also include colleagues in Divisions 12 and 14 of the Finance Department.
When it comes to the subject matter, you, as the applicant, are the experts. Upon request, the ZHD supports you with your applications, particularly in the didactic area—from brainstorming to drafting the application and, if the grant is successfully secured, also in its implementation.
If signatures or letters of support from the Executive Board, etc., are required for the applications, these should be requested through the ZHD as early as possible. The ZHD prepares a draft resolution for consideration by the Executive Board in consultation with the applicants and in accordance with the deadlines, and submits it along with all required documents. In addition, a statement must be provided confirming that the necessary (human) resources are available and that the proposals offer added value for the entire TUC.
Applicants shall submit copies of their finalized applications to:
- Vice President for Academic Affairs: @.vpstu-clausthalde
- VPS Advisors: referentinnen.@.vpstu-clausthalde
- Center for University Didactics: Ausschreibungen.@.LuSttu-clausthalde
The TUC aims to increase the amount of external funding secured for university teaching by analyzing the acceptances and rejections of submitted proposals. Applicants are asked to support these efforts by
- participating in calls for proposals and programs and
- contributing to the overall quality of the process by confidentially forwarding the feedback and reviews they receive to the ZHD.
