Examine

This seminar addresses the challenges that instructors face when preparing for and administering exams. The seminar provides concrete guidance on designing exams. Following a general overview of the timeline for planning, preparing, administering, and debriefing exams, as well as their key components, the seminar systematically addresses core content tailored to the specific problems, needs, and questions of the participants. The session alternates between short presentations and interactive methods (exercises). Participants will receive a handout and additional materials on the topic.

Objectives:

Participants will be able to

  • professionally prepare, plan, and administer exams,
  • apply the taxonomy of learning objectives in exams and construct precise exam questions in alignment with the learning objectives,
  • distinguish between and combine assessment procedures and criteria,
  • identify sources of error in assessment,
  • decide on appropriate responses in critical situations (e.g., cheating, test anxiety).
