Designing Tutorials

Tutorials play a major role in the curriculum at Clausthal University of Technology. They are an important component of teaching, integrated into the three-part structure of lecture–exercise–tutorial. They offer students the opportunity to work independently in small groups to solve practice problems under guidance and to discuss subject-specific issues. They also help students get started in their studies and provide orientation.

“How do I structure my tutorials so that students feel well supported and are fully prepared for an exam? What do I need to keep in mind? What are the different options and approaches for organizing tutorials at Clausthal? Who can I ask? Where can I find good tutors, how do I train them, and where do I get the funding for them? What are some of the challenges one sometimes faces when organizing tutorials? “What role does the ZHD’s tutor training program play—what can they actually do for me?”
These are just a few of the questions that can be discussed in this context.

We are pleased to have Dipl.-Ing. Raimund Schnieder (IEE) and
Dipl.-Oec. Jürgen Sackbrook (WiWi) join us to present their approaches.
