Internship in Structural Strength Analysis (IMAB)

With the internship "Practical Strength of Materials Analysis According to the FKM Guideline," the Institute for Mechanical Plant Engineering and Strength of Materials (IMAB) has created a course that is highly practical and equips students with skills that, until now, they had to painstakingly acquire on their own after entering the workforce.

A course handout is provided to supplement the practicum. The theoretical section for self-study includes detailed examples that are worked through in the practicum using the software provided. In a second step, students work through another example largely on their own. Interim results are provided in the course handout for guidance. As a final project and for the exam, students independently design a previously unknown component using the FKM guideline and document their calculation results in a short report.

The course was awarded the TUC Teaching Prize by the students in 2015.
